Welcome to Oak Wood School

Oak Wood School is committed to the idea that education goes beyond the reaches of the classroom and that young people can learn a great deal by taking part in educational visits and activities outside of timetabled lessons and home.

Oak Wood School is a vibrant, innovative and aspirational community where pupils and students are encouraged to aim high to achieve their personal goals. We are a popular 11-18 mixed comprehensive Foundation School that serves its local community in Hillingdon with over 1000 pupils and students.

At Oak Wood School we value the achievements of every pupil and student no matter what their abilities or talents. Young people are at the heart of all that we do. We are a truly comprehensive school and celebrate our diversity. Our high expectations of every pupil, and a caring, respectful and supportive core ethos – We Dream, We Learn, We Grow – propels us constantly to advocate that pupils and students are not limited in their choices.

We are extremely proud of our pupils. They are confident, articulate and thoughtful pupils who continually impress with their talents and energy. We regularly celebrate the many and varied successes of individuals and groups and are proud of our inclusive approach. It goes without saying that we want every pupil who joins us to develop into a successful young adult, but we also want to empower them to determine what success looks like for themselves. What is right for one is not necessarily right for another. It is important that each child has the chance to forge their own pathway, both while they are with us and beyond.

Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day

On Friday 10 December 2021, Oak Wood School will be taking part in Save the Children's Christmas Jumper Day. We are asking families to donate, however much you can give, to support children in the UK and around the world. By taking part we will be helping children who don't have the basics they need to survive - like food, access to school, or medicine - to start seeing the magic in the world again.

There is no need to buy a new jumper - we will be turning old jumpers into sparkly new creations in a Christmas craft session at school, so all your child needs is to bring in an old jumper (plus a few decorations if you have them to spare). This will take place in the Art room after school on Thursday 9 December 2021. If you want to get crafty at home, there will also be decorating templates available on the Christmas Jumper Day Game plan at christmasjumperday.org from mid-November. Your child can of course wear their own Christmas jumper if they have one - make sure it's extra Christmassyl

To make donating easier and safer this year we've set up our own Just Giving page. You can donate directly here: https://christmas.savethechildren.org.uk/fundraising/CJD210001830. Please note, Just Giving only accepts a minimum donation of £1.
There are alternatives to donating:

• Your child/children can bring in a cash donation - which will be collected by staff at the school gates
• You can donate via the Save the Children's website at www.christmasjumperday.org, please use the school reference number CJD210001830 on any donation you may make
• Your child/children can bring in non-perishable food donations - all food donations will be given to refugees.
